HR is constantly trying to stay on top of the latest trends in employee health and wellness to make sure their initiatives are appealing to recruits and deliver value.

Many companies have increased their efforts to promote employee health and well-being while looking for new and innovative ways to do so. Not every initiative is for everyone, and the level of engagement with support in a work environment will differ between people.

Headspace

Headspace is one of the top apps for mental health. It provides a range of guided mindfulness and meditation techniques to help you develop healthy and positive habits. Headspace offers a variety of guided meditations and mindfulness exercises to boost mental wellbeing.

NHS audio guides

The NHS offers a collection of audio guides that promote mental health. These short guides were created in collaboration with doctors to boost the mood and help the listener. They cover everything from coping strategies for depression and low mood to anxiety control training and confidence building.

Calm

Calm combines different self-improvement techniques, such as improving sleep quality, reducing anxiety or stress, and improving focus.

The cost of accessing all this content is PS28.99 a year. However, they also have a library of mindfulness content that can be accessed for free on YouTube. There is a guided meditation series called “Daily Calm,” a library of videos to help with sleep, and stories from celebrities such as LeBron, Camilla, and Shawn Mendes about how meditation changed their lives.

Since its launch 12 years ago, the channel has registered 815,000 subscribers with more than 130m page views.

Insight Timer featuring Orlaith O’Sullivan

Insight Timer is a free app that helps you sleep better and reduce stress and anxiety. The app boasts over 100,000 guided meditations by some of the most renowned teachers. Russell Brand and Armin Van Buuren are among them.

Orlaith is a world-renowned mindfulness teacher who has been delivering sessions on the platform for four years. She encourages deep relaxation, post-work reset, self-care, and much more. Orlaith O’Sullivan is a mindfulness teacher with a global reputation. She has delivered sessions on the platform since 2014, encouraging deep relaxation and self-care.

My Possible Self

My Possible Self was created in partnership with world leaders in mental healthcare and offers a variety of clinically certified content using cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). It can help you identify habits that you’d like to change, reduce anxiety, stress, and depression, or improve sleep. This is done by providing simple tools to help users learn how to change negative thoughts to positive ones. It also helps identify anxiety triggers and builds awareness about how and why negative thoughts can occur.

National Trust Guided Walks

Exercise is good for your mental health, and it’s also great for your physical health. But taking a break in nature can have a positive impact on you as well. You can reap these benefits by taking guided walks with the National Trust.

The National Trust hosts these walks. Walk Leaders, who are volunteers, guide walkers along different distances in some of the most picturesque countryside locations across the country. These walks are ideal for those who want to discover the countryside, meet new people, and explore it. They also accommodate everyone by walking at their own pace.

Samaritans

Meditation or a stroll in the park may not be enough to improve our mental health. The Samaritans can be a good place to go if you or someone else you know is having a hard time coping and feels unable to tell anyone.

Samaritans’ free helpline is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. It responds to every 10-second call for assistance. The charity offers ways to cope with life and skills to help others. It encourages, promotes, and celebrates moments of connection that can save lives. The charity’s trained volunteers don’t just provide support in times of crisis but also work to prevent suicide.
